Summary

Building successful a team means insuring that you have a diverse combinations of skills within the team and leaning to leverage those skills and while managing a common in order to produce a high performing team. This workshop combines the use of Myers-Briggs individual preferences with the Hawkins 5 disciplines of teams in order to help teams. This workshop will help both team leaders as well as team members gain a better awareness on how to help teams function in diverse and difficult environments.

Description

It takes more than one person to do work within an organization, and team function is essential if you want to get things done. Because of the complexity of teams, when one is in a team or managing a team, they often loose the perspective of the challenges that impact that team. This course teaches everyone how to recognized some of the challenges and how to recognize and manage them in an effective way. The course begins with understanding the complexity of personalities in teams and how to match and use the skills of the individuals. It then combines the individual components of the team with the 5 disciplines of high performing teams by Peter Hawkins, and puts this into practical use for the team members and manager.

Goals and Delivery

  • Gain a view of the impact of the individual in the team
  • Understanding behavior preferences and how they impact team behavior
  • Understand the importance of common goals
  • Learn about the inherently complex nature of team dynamics in a systemic context
  • Adopt a working definition of teams that you can test and utilize
  • Learn the Hawkins 5 disciplines model of team leaders: 1) Commissioning, 2) Clarifying, 3) Co-Creating, 4) Communicating, 5) Core learning
  • Identify specific competencies to practice as a team member or a team leader which relates to each of the 
5 disciplines
  • Gain a better understanding of the rolls within teams
  • Understand what makes a team dysfunction
  • Understand how to lift the performance and delivery of teams

Methods used

  • Lecture and role-play in groups
  • It is suggested that the participants participate in Myers-Briggs Step II test for this training
