Summary

This session focuses on the underlying issues that cause communication issues, team working issues, mobbing issues and sexual harassment within the work environment. Using unconscious bias as a foundation, managers can discover their own biases and how to overcome them in order to both manage difference better regardless if it is internal within the company or external with customers and suppliers. We also look at how diversity, cultural awareness and unconscious bias play out in the virtual world and what the new dangers are in the new economy.

Description

The program consists of self-assessment of unconscious bias and how that can effect individual and team management. An introduction to mobbing and sexual harassment issues is introduced in this session. 

Awakening Unconscious Bias

  • Here we use Harvard based group exercises to uncover unconscious biases – group activity
  • We use a series of recognition testing to have people become aware of their unconscious biases

Self-Assessment of Barriers

  • Individuals make an assessment of their own surroundings in order to understand their own biases
  • We do a surrounding self-assessment to uncover unconscious biases preferences and reflection on cultural identity groups

The Diversity Spares

  • What is diversity
  • Different external signals – how they influence us
  • What is inclusion and what it is not – this is to help the group really understand which behaviors encourage inclusion and which behaviors do not

The New Virtual Danger Zone

  • Can issues such as sexual harassment and mobbing take place in the virtual world?
  • The danger of isolation
  • Enforcing inclusivity in the virtual environment
  • How to keep people connected
